DAS and Instech: The Speakers

DAS UK Group, the UK’s leading legal expenses insurer (LEI), is partnering with Instech London to host ‘The Confluence of InsurTech, LawTech and PropTech’ event at the Steel Yard in London at 6pm on Monday 24 September.

Here’s a quick look at some of the speakers…

Signaturit - Juan Zamora

Juan Zamora, CEO and co-founder of Signaturit, has more than seven years’ experience as an analyst in the financial services sector, working as a project manager for banking organisations such as BBVA and Banco Sabadell. He has also been an entrepreneur in various sectors for the last five years.

Computing has always been a passion for Juan. At the age of 15, he started to program in different languages, before receiving a degree in Computer Science from the UOC (Open University of Catalonia). He then specialised with a masters degree in Mobile Business & Apps Design from the UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia).

In 2013, together with the current CTO, Javier Martínez, he founded Signaturit, a company that offers high level trust service solutions - electronic signature, certified communications and electronic identification - enabling companies to have a 100% digital onboarding process.

In just a few years, the company has established itself as a market leader in Spain, with a range of clients including Banco Sabadell, AXA, DAS, and Volkswagen Group.

Shepherd - Will Brocklebank

Prior to founding Shepherd, Will spent a decade as the CEO of a building management systems company which he founded in 2005. He has been an expert speaker at numerous smart buildings conferences and has been featured in a range of leading trade magazines. He has held board positions for CEDIA (an international trade organisation) and currently sits on their Governance committee. Will is the chairman of the artificial intelligence technology group for the British Institute of Facilities Management.

Eigen Technologies - Dr Lewis Z. Liu

Having started his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in London, he then founded and led the Quantitative Finance & Strategies division for Aleron Partners LLP, a boutique private equity advisory firm. He is also a former senior advisor to Linklaters LLP, where he co-founded the Tactical Opportunities Group, a deal origination team.

Lewis holds a doctorate in Atomic and Laser Physics from the University of Oxford. During his studies at Oxford, Lewis invented a new class of x-ray laser, and the mathematics behind this invention was later abstracted into Eigen's core technology. Lewis received Harvard’s first joint bachelors in Fine Arts and Physics, as well as a masters in Theoretical Physics, during which he conducted antihydrogen research at CERN.

Lewis co-founded Eigen Technologies in late 2014.

Olly Thornton-Berry, co-founder, Thirdfort

Worked in private equity specialising in investing in software businesses at MXC Capital. Prior to that Olly worked in banking and attended Durham University with Jack where they started their first business together.

Jack Bidgood, co-founder, Thirdfort

Jack has a background in banking having worked at Barclays for six years. Prior to this worked at Deloitte and studied economics at Durham University.

Russell King, Paycasso CEO

Prior to founding Paycasso, Russell led the team responsible for the regulatory approval and subsequent launch of the first new Top Level Domain (TLD) in years. This involved working closely with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Previously, he was chairman and CEO of US healthcare service provider, ZirMed. It was his extensive healthcare experience, coupled with his in-depth knowledge of the issues facing commercial operators and government agencies reliant on remote customer identification, which led to the birth of Paycasso. A respected thought leader in this space, Russell has worked with a number of high-profile businesses and public entities, including the US Department of Commerce.
