Robyn Lampon, Business Initiative Project Manager at DAS
Ahead of the Women in Insurance Awards 2023 on October 19th, Trailblazer Award finalist Robyn Lampon reflects on her 13 year journey through DAS so far.
It’s an honour to be among the remarkable women shortlisted for the Trailblazer award. Reflecting on my 13-year journey with DAS, from an After the Event Senior Case Handler to my current role in the Strategic Change Team as a Project Manager, I have been fortunate to navigate various roles within DAS UK. Each step has been a lesson, an opportunity, and a chance to make a difference.
In 2021, I took up the role of Network Lead for the DAS Women’s Network, Spark. Being part of Spark has been a rewarding experience. We’ve transformed it into more than just a network; it’s become a supportive forum where women across DAS UK unite to challenge gender biases and foster an inclusive culture. Since my involvement, Spark has seen significant growth, with our committee expanding by 33% and our network expanding by 120%. This growth isn’t just a statistic; it’s a testament to the desire for change and support within our organisation.
One of our proudest achievements has been empowering young women. In particular, a webinar we organised for female school leavers that spotlighted the incredible women in our Technology, Data, and Strategic Change team. These sessions served as inspiration, to encourage these young women consider careers in spaces traditionally dominated by men.
Moreover, Spark has played a pivotal role in realising DAS UK’s commitment to gender parity pledges, standing alongside initiatives like HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter and The Law Society’s Women in Law pledge. We are aiming to achieve a 50% female representation in senior leadership by 2025. Our collective efforts have also contributed to the development and rollout of the new Menopause Guidelines, ensuring that the workplace is not just inclusive but also empathetic to the unique challenges faced by women.
Most recently, Spark has organised face-to-face career networking sessions across the business, these were supported by women in our senior leadership teams, giving women in more junior roles the opportunity to discuss career development and tips on how to expand their network. This is an important initiative for me as I, too, have been guided by incredible people at DAS throughout my career.
I am not just a part of Spark; I am a believer in its power to have impact in the workplace. This nomination is not just my story; it’s a testament to the collaborative spirit of DAS UK and Spark. Together, we’re lighting it up with a trailblazing spirit. What an incredible journey to be a part of. I am excited about the future we are shaping.
